Counties included in a plan

The short answer

Local includes 15 counties and Regional includes 75; National includes every county and county-equivalent. Beyond the allowance a county costs $4 a month on Local and $2.50 a month on Regional, charged for the remainder of the period when added. The counties are yours to choose, anywhere in the country, and the set belongs to the organization.

The detail

Counties are added on the Counties screen, by the owner or an admin. Adding a state adds every county in it, including the state’s unallocated area where it has one; adding a metropolitan area adds its member counties, wherever they are. The app shows the count, how many are over your allowance, and the added cost before you confirm, so read it before confirming: many states have more counties than Local includes. At 58 counties Regional costs less than Local with extras, and at 216 counties National costs less than Regional with extras; the app does not switch you automatically.

A state or the nation selected as an area is not a sum of counties and needs no county at all: it is free to everyone. Counties are what a plan buys.

A county trial adds one county for 7 days. If you buy a plan during the trial, the trial county stays and counts as one of the plan’s counties.
