What a plan buys
Anyone with a free account can see the nation and every state at full industry and occupation depth, quarterly, in the current vintage, in the app. What a plan buys is county detail, and it buys it by the county.
Local includes 15 counties. Regional includes 75. National includes every county and county-equivalent in the country. The counties are your choice, anywhere in the United States, and a plan may span state lines; a state or a metropolitan area can be added as a shortcut rather than county by county.
Extra counties beyond the allowance cost $4 a month each on Local and $2.50 a month each on Regional. Adding a county takes effect immediately and is charged for the remainder of the billing period. Removing counties takes effect on the monthly billing date; what has been paid for stays usable until then. At 58 counties Regional costs less than Local with extras, and at 216 counties National costs less than Regional with extras.

Seats
A subscription belongs to an organization, not a person. Free includes 1 seat; Local includes 5; Regional includes 10; National includes 15. Extra seats cost $8, $16 and $24 a month respectively.
Nobody is turned away. A colleague who joins after the seats are used still gets an account, on the free tier, attached to the organization, and an admin can seat them in one click. Organizations have owners, admins and members, and can let people at a verified email domain join on their own.
Included on every account
Custom clusters of industries, occupations or counties: free, unlimited, shared across the organization. Location quotient. Full industry and occupation depth. The current vintage. Prior vintages are included on every paid plan.
File export is on paid plans. Data leaving through export or the API is metered in points, one point per data value, against a monthly allowance that runs per calendar month in UTC; browsing in the app is not metered. Only data values are metered: each non-zero value of a measure costs one point, and the labels that come with it (disclosure, reliability and the other flags) cost nothing. Unused points never carry over, and when an organization’s points for the month are used up, API requests and file exports (CSV and XLSX) answer 429 until the month turns. The allowances are in the limits table below.
The API
The API is an add-on, sold only with an annual plan, on every paid tier including Local. It costs $990 a year on Local, $1,990 on Regional and $2,990 on National, on top of the plan.
Adding the API partway through an annual term starts a new twelve-month term for the whole subscription; the unused balance of the current term is applied as a credit. Removing it does not restart anything: access runs to the paid-through date and the add-on does not renew.
Each person may hold two API keys, which a member mints in the app once the organization holds the add-on and an admin has allowed it. Requests are limited to 120 a minute per key and 300 a minute per organization. The API documentation covers the rest.
Annual terms
An annual plan costs ten times the monthly price: twelve months for the price of ten. Annual terms are not refundable. Cancelling stops the renewal; access continues to the paid-through date.
To try the product before paying for a year, use the free account, the 7-day county trial or a monthly plan.
The trial
A trial lasts 7 days and covers one county of your choice, with every data feature the paid product offers for that county: full depth, quarterly figures, prior vintages, clusters, charts, and uncapped file export of that county. The one exclusion is API keys. No card is required.
When the 7 days end, the trial county is removed and the free account continues, with saved work intact. A person has one trial.

The API is an add-on to any annual plan. API access to the data behind the DTG interface.

Limits
Usage is measured in points. One point is one data value returned.

Rate ceilings: 120 requests a minute per API key, 300 per organization, and at most 400,000 cells (one series at one period) in a single request. Each member may hold 2 keys. Usage is recorded by county and period and reviewed by a person; no threshold is published. The month is the UTC calendar month; unused points never carry over, and when an organization's points for the month are used up, API requests and file exports answer 429 until the month turns. Browsing in the app is never metered.
Terms

- Annual terms are non-refundable. Cancelling stops the renewal rather than ending the current term; access continues to the paid-through date.

Questions buyers ask at this point
What counts as a county, and how do I pick them?
Any county or county-equivalent in the United States, picked one at a time or by state or metro shortcut inside the app. Your selection can cross state lines.
Can I change my counties?
Add at any time, prorated and charged immediately. Remove once a month, on your anchor date. Changing which counties you hold, with the count unchanged, is not a billing event.
What is a seat, and what happens when someone leaves?
A seat is one person with access to your organization counties. An admin can reassign a seat when someone leaves; the seat is not lost.
What happens to a team member past the seat allowance?
They get in on the Free tier with national and state data, and an admin can seat them in one click. Nobody is turned away.
What is a point, and does anyone hit the limit?
One point is one data value returned. Only data values are metered: each non-zero value of a measure costs one point, and the labels that come with it (disclosure, reliability and the other flags) cost nothing. The allowance runs per calendar month in UTC and unused points do not carry over. When a month's points are used up, API requests and file exports answer 429 until the month turns. Do I need the API?
Not for ordinary use. The explorer and exports cover analysis and reporting. The API is for pulling data into your own systems on a schedule, and it is sold only with an annual plan.
What happens when I cancel?
Your renewal stops and access continues to the paid-through date. Your account then returns to Free with national and state data intact.
Can I take the trial more than once?
One trial per person. The first trial needs no card, and nothing is charged when it ends.
