Deacon James - President / CTO

As the founder and CTO at Data Tactical Group, Deacon brings extensive expertise in bringing labor market data and software solutions together in a variety of industries, such as healthcare, education, energy, and economic development. He previously served at Emsi (now Lightcast) for 14 years, holding positions such as VP of Data Products, VP of Engineering, and Chief Technology Officer. Deacon pioneered the innovative methodology for processing labor market data that formed the backbone of all Emsi products.

Deacon is passionate about people and solving problems. He believes in creating customer-centered solutions that provide actionable information to solve real problems using data and information. He also believes in serving those who work alongside him, putting both customers and teams at the forefront.

Deacon is married to Amy. They have two daughters, two sons, and one son-in-law, and each one of them is awesome. He enjoys spending time outdoors, and especially kayaking on the Louisiana bayou.

Brian Points - Vice President / Chief Economist

Brian Points has 15+ years experience creating and applying labor market data to real-world problems. He simultaneously serves as chief economist and board member for a number of other organizations including Points Consulting, and Headlight Data. In his career, he has led over 100 consulting projects for clients across 32 states, the UK and Canada. In previous roles, he has worked for labor market companies such as Chmura Economics & Analytics and Lightcast. He has a knack for synthesizing information to make it applicable to specific economic problems.

As a VP with DTG, Brian both serves as the Business Development team lead, and as the Chief Economist.
